Health, Safety and Environment Requirements

The safety of the public, our employees and the Barakah plant is the overriding priority for everyone at ENEC and its subsidiary ENEC Operations. We are committed to meeting the highest international safety, security and quality standards. ENEC and its operations subsidiary expect all suppliers to work safely and in compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, standards, regulations, procedures and rules of the Code of Conduct. To ensure the implementation of these expectations, ENEC maintains a fully accredited Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management System, and all suppliers (including subcontractors and sub-suppliers) are required to comply with all applicable requirements.

Health and safety expectations and requirements are set in the Contractor HSE Management Procedure available below. Additional requirements specific to the work undertaken by a supplier may be specified in the relevant contract based on the assessed level of risk with the scope of work being undertaken.

Environmental Services Requirements

1. Vendor must maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) similar or equivalent to ISO 14001.
2. Vendor must have an Environmental and Sustainability Policy or an environmental section within the HSE Plan.
3. Vendors must have a Waste Management Procedure covering all anticipated waste types, including proper segregation, storage, recycling and disposal.
4. Vendors must ensure no restricted and/or banned chemicals or industrial gases are supplied or used in the UAE.
5. Vendors must ensure all personnel performing work are environmentally trained, competent, and fully aware of BNPP specific requirements, including completion of BNPP OEMP Environmental Awareness Training prior to site access.
6. Environmental Consultants must hold a valid EAD Class A Consultancy Certificate.
7. Vendors whose operations or products influence fuel use, energy consumption, carbon emissions, or environmental performance may be required to provide organizational carbon data, energy use records, or sustainability performance indicators to support ENEC’s ESG commitments.
8. Vendors supplying equipment must provide environmental performance details including GHG emissions, fuel/energy consumption, and other relevant environmental specifications.
9. For scopes involving sampling, monitoring, or field measurements, vendors must demonstrate robust QA/QC processes, use of calibrated equipment and appropriate technical expertise.
